Great game by SIU. A lot of energy, came out swinging, and once they got hot, NDSU just couldn't contain them. Two great teams, one just had the far better day. People dunking on NDSU should enjoy it though. They will be back before long! I really hope to see these two teams play again. Would be a great rematch! No dog in this fight, just a football fan.

They lost so much from the fall obviously starting with a top 10 NFL prospect that I'm not surprised they aren't quite the same. I think the problem is they lost anybody that was good to the NFL or transfer and didn't have a chance to bring in any highschool prospects or FBS transfers to replace those players.

@Jj ya it will be interesting to see what they are able to do with recruiting going into the fall season. I don't think they're completely done but I don't think the wins will come quite as easy

The Division 1A teams are watching NDSU recruiting, and it was a matter of time before 1A started to take away players from NDSU. For example, when they started on this run of national championships, virtually all of their players were from within state; then IA took them away; NDSU now recruits heavily in MN; that shall be taken away. I saw this happen to Montana when they were top of FCS, and virtually all their players were homegrown; once they lost that recruiting base, they fell from the top. USC decades ago had a stranglehold on California recruiting; then teams from all over the country started taking players, and look at USC today. And that's the way it is! And it is good to have parity and competition.

@Jarrod Neely Zeb is an FBS transfer who threw for over 300 yards on a top 10 (maybe even top 5) Oklahoma team a few years back. They thought that was quality enough for the backup position. But don't worry, apparently they have a 4 star QB transferring from Virginia Tech and another top dual threat guy coming in this fall. I believe that will be the first 4 star recruit to ever wear an NDSU jersey.

@weegee that is wrong lol. They get 4-5 teams in the playoffs every year most conferences get 1 maybe 2. The other top conferences get 3 maybe 4. They are the only conferences in history to send 2 teams to the championship. it's not just NDSU, SDSU and UNI are both very consistently talented teams.

The SEC is more than just Alabama though, you got Georgia, Florida, Texas AM, LSU, and Auburn. The Missouri Valley is a one team conference unlike the SEC and their only good team is North Dakota State.

They didn't play in the fall. I don't think there were many FCS teams at all that played in the fall so most are playing a spring season

Division 2 or the FCS? NDSU and SIU are in FCS, which is Division 1.

NDSU will have to increase the player's monthly stipend to get better athletes. Plus after the success of Jabril Cox at LSU, potential recruits who don't play QB know the road to the NFL isn't thru NDSU.

I mean, they’ve put a lot of guys into the NFL. More so than the average FBS school I’d say

The have multiple offensive tackles in the NFL and had a few defensive backs and linebackers too. Not just their QBs but they are just the most noticeable.

I wouldn’t say Cox was a success at LSU but he does get to put LSU next to his name in the draft. Although I don’t think it helped his draft stock any if at all

They had a bad day. There is a reason it is hard to win every game and it isn't entirely because of the other team being the better one. NDSU is good at their level because they are geared toward that level. They've never said anything else. Just the same as Alabama being good at their level because they are geared toward their level. They aren't a joke because they would be bounced off of the field against Tampa Bay. People need to quit pitting others against each other just to push their own need for an argue. Most FCS teams would love to have the NDSU culture. Winning teams year after year regardless of changing players or coaches. There is something good going on there and it not just that they come in with the best recruits. The culture advances potential. For those of you that haven't, watch the past ten championships. Great games and real playoffs, not a popularity pairing like the bowl system. Every team with any chance has a chance to be there. The FBS level seems to have less of a corporate smell to it. Just kids playing a game while they are growing up and learning to be something bigger.

Great thing about the fcs, a 20 ranked team has a chance. Ndsu can definently still win it all.
